Mary Meeker has released another look at the Internet and what’s heading our way. What’s in store? Well, over the last three years China added more Internet users than the USA has citizens. 81% of unique monthly visits to USA websites originates in other countries. There are 835 million smartphones and 5.6 billion mobile phone subscribers world-wide. Finally, 85% of the world’s population is covered by wireless signals which has a greater reach than electricity.

Let the storage Cloud wars begin!
Yesterday Apple launched iCloud. In response DropBox and Box.net enhanced their offerings. This means more storage for everyone. The bottom line, 50GB of cloud storage will cost zero or one hundred dollars a year. Let the battle for the bits begin!
Are you in IT? There’s a Job for that.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, an estimated 4.14 million people are employed in the U.S. in IT jobs. That’s close to the level IT employment was in the second quarter of 2008. For the second consecutive quarter the BLS survey estimated U.S. IT employment above 4 million.
Sprint-ing towards Long Term Evolution and 4G
October is emerging as the month of change for Sprint. They become the 3rd US carrier for the iPhone and will launch a 4G network based upon Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology. Sprint will shift away from WiMax 4G and expects its LTE network to launch commercially in the middle of 2012.
